Can you give me any substantiated proof that this was published in 1881? Frankly I don;t believe it, though my research is not thorough, and I am mainly interested as I am an artist and the dig at artists makes me laugh, as if an emoticon could purvey the emotion of a Rembrandt. cheers, luke hart

Hi. Yes it is genuinely from a magazine created in the 19th century.

However it was a satirical magazine, so I doubt this was intended as serious.

More a tongue in cheek joke!
